  • I guess you all deserve an actual update as well...

    ... so here goes.

Most recently on here I stated that music was my major and I was going to stick with it. All you skeptics were right - I stick with nothing. Therefore, my major changed to General Studies sometime last year, and I'll be graduating with a Bachelor's in just that this May. Yay for me. I actually really enjoy getting to create my own curriculum and taking a wide variety of classes. It's not so restrictive - I get to learn about whatever I want, whenever I want. Kickass.

Speaking of kickass, that's what my new boyfriend is. Since Lance was a total bust (he cheated on me, just like I always knew he would), I didn't start seeing anyone else until Spring Quarter last year. Michael's his name, and we've been dating for about nine months or so now. This summer's going to suck because he has an internship in Magnolia, AR while I'll be stuck in little old Ruston still. But it'll work out - I get to stay here while he still has a year of school left to finish up, so at least I'll be seeing him and all the rest of my friends that aren't graduating a year early during the school year. Of course, that means I have to find a full-time job with benefits before I graduate so that my parents see that I can be a responsible, mature adult. Ha.

I suppose that brings me to family. Mom and Dad (or should I say Nana and Papa?) are fine. Since my last update, my brother Kevin did get married to Beth Richards (Beth Hunt now) and they had a beautiful little girl this past December, named Addison. My sister, Kimberly, also had her baby, though that was in October of 2006. She named her Cadence, and she's becoming quite the cute little brat (but she loves her Aunt Kay!). Kim also got married in July last year to Taylor Seagraves, Cadence's dad, so I guess all that worked out for the best. My uncle recently had a heart attack, but he's recovering well, so no death updates (no news is good news).

Wow, I used a lot of parenthetical phrases in that last paragraph. And I called them parenthetical phrases just now. Hmm... Anyway, I'm pretty good right now, as you can see. Working as a student worker in the Property Office. Basically I get to drive this awesome shaggin' wagon around campus, tagging movable property that the University has purchased for over $1,000. I take all the information down and then update the University's computer logs with the new property. Ok, so it's actually pretty boring, but all of that only takes up about an hour of my shift and then I can play on the computer or do whatever I want. So it's not bad.

In other news, since mostly only someone I went to TAMS with will read this (if anyone), Michael actually graduated from LSMSA (Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts), which is basically Louisiana's version of TAMS. I thought that was pretty interesting. He's a smartie, what can I say? Mechanical Engineering is his game, and I like History and English classes the best - we must be made for each other. :)

Well, that should be enough for now. If anybody actually made it this far and still cares, I commend you for your compassion. It's an admirable quality. Congratulations. Have a cookie in commemoration of yourself.

And of course, have a nice day.

  • I got an annoying message from "the Xanga team" who apparently "misses me," so I clicked on the link and this is what I have to do to sign back in. Yay.

  • Ok, so here we go again...

Well, first things first. Updates in the life of Kayla: I got a kickass (ok, that's a lie) job for the summer, so I'm making a bit of money. That's all fine and well. Now the bad news: Lance is an asshole. Long story short? He broke up with me the day after my birthday. The longer version makes him much nastier, but let's not slander people on the internet, right? Anyway, on to more important matters.

I sit next to the one and only, the great Hannah Marman, discussing how much the Mac Rats were like the gang on That '70's Show. And how Mac was totally like the Forman's basement. And the more we sat here discussing it, naming characters to Rats, the more we realized that it was as if we could have been on the show ourselves. Okay, so not everything matches up exactly right, but here's what we got so far:

Hyde - So this had to be Jimmy. If you don't think it's Jimmy, you're just wrong. Look at the hair for godsakes.

Eric - Eric was a toughie, but we finally landed on Nigel. Pale, scrawny white guy, and central to the Mac Rat family and all of the comedic goings-on within.

Donna - Had to be me, if only for the boobs. That, and I have nice hair and I'm cool. According to Hannah anyway.

Kitty - Emily. Hands down, she was the Mac Rat mom, no question about it.

Red - Russell. Come on, dumbasses.

Fez - This one was a little difficult, but let's be honest. Fez was the weird character, and Joe just fits that part.  He's totally foreign in spirit.

Jackie - We decided that this was Hannah, partly because she just reminds me of Jackie in some ways, but mostly because she's dated the people we picked for Hyde and Fez. Kelso didn't quite work out, but get over it.

Kelso - Danny. He may not be stupid, but let's face it, he made some pretty comments. And he's obsessed with sex.

Laurie - Justin. I mean, come on, if Danny's Kelso (who did have a thing with Laurie), then Justin can be Laurie...she was a whore, he's a manwhore...it works out. Plus...blond hair.

Bob and Midge - Steve and Sherri. Hannah and I couldn't remember if Bob ended up with Midge in the end, but we decided that he did. Therefore, they couple factor lead us to our betrothed. And Steve does have the curly hair.

Randy - Had to be Jeff, mostly because we first had Jeff down as Hyde's Bitch, and Hannah thinks that Randy ended up working for Hyde (?). Even if he didn't, Randy DID date Donna, and Jeff's the only guy that I technically dated at TAMS.

Leo - Last but definitely not least, we cast Kyle for the honor of resident stoner. Now, yes, we realize that Kyle's probably never been stoned in his life, but the match up was just too funny to let slip.

I hope you enjoyed our synopsis of Junior year at TAMS, and the way most things seemed to correspond with the show so well.

    HELLO DENTON!!!! (Wisconsin?)

  • And six months later...

Ok, lol, so I figure I can at least get around to doing this once a year, right?

Anyway, not much to report. Ok, a bunch to report, but I'll keep it short. Heh, that rhymed.

    - Lance and I are good...one and half years coming up on April 21st. If you're wondering how we got to one and half years so quickly, we decided not to count our little 'break' because most of the time throughout that, we were basically still going out anyway.
    - Switched majors again, this time to music. And I really think that this is where I'm going to stay. I love all the classes and private lessons (except for the whole having to learn piano part, ew), and my teachers all tell me that I'm wonderful. I love hearing that. :)
    - Family is good, for the most part. Kevin's getting married in June, and Kim's pregnant, but out of wedlock...the parentals aren't happy, of course, but they're dealing, because, let's face it, she can't change it now, right?
    - Along with all the extra classes I have to take as a music major, I'm also working to be an RA next year, so I have to do duty nights as a trainee this quarter, and attend a bunch of programs.
    - I'm also doing intramural softball, so I basically have ZERO free time. But I love it. Busy is just so awesome, because I never have to feel lonely when I always have something to do. I've also made a lot of new friends through the new major and intramurals and classes, etc.

Basically, I'm doing peachy keen at the moment. Oh, yeah, and my dad's 50th birthday is coming up on the 13th, and I'm coming home from school early to be at his surprise party. Don't tell! :)

  • So... updations:

    - I (currently) have an A in all of my classed. I say currently because finals are this week, but they probably won't have much of an effect. Meh.

    - Lance and I are back together. October 7th, I think... I should really try to keep track of those types of things, shouldn't I? :P

    - I switched my major from Accounting to Journalism. With a minor in English. Yes, I know I'm completely strange, but if you think about it, didn't I hate everything about TAMS but the people? :)

    - Thanksgiving is soon, and I can't wait for ham, broccoli and rice casserole (the BEST stuff in the world), and my Aunt JJ's chocolate pie. OMG FOOD.
